Sylvia Kennedy - Junior High Spanish Teacher

I am a long time bilingual (Spanish and English) school educator.  I am a long-time Bruin, having attended UCLA for a B.A. in French, a teaching credential, an M.A. in Romance Linguistics and Literature, and ultimately a Doctorate in Education.  I enjoy creating lessons that are motivating to the students so they can achieve second language success.  My goal is to adapt to the students' needs to bring out the best in them as they become responsible for their own learning.

I was born in Madrid, Spain, and lived in Morocco and Brazil before coming to the United States. I have three children, one in Seoul, who will be going to Shenyang next year, one in Oregon, and the youngest in California.  My history motivated my eldest daughter to teach English in Japan and work abroad as a diplomat.  When not in the classroom or preparing lessons, I enjoy cooking, solving crossword puzzles, reading, painting ceramics, knitting, and walking Walter.
