Joe Di Resta - Music, Guitar

I can't remember a time when music wasn’t part of my life.  I remember being in 1st grade and rocking out to The Rolling Stones while doing my math homework. In middle school, my mom decided I needed to put my energy into doing something more creative than playing Super Mario Bros. She bought my first guitar from a gentleman selling gardening tools at the Alpine Village swap meet. I was soon in guitar lessons and the rest is history!

I studied music at the University of Southern California’s Thorton School of Music. There I received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Studio Guitar performance, was inducted into the National Honors Society, and was the graduate of the year in 2000 for the Studio Guitar department.

Currently, I spend a lot of time working in music education where I teach classes at St. Lawrence Martyr, South Torrance High, and Miraleste Middle School. I also teach private guitar, piano, drum, and ukulele lessons around the South Bay. Additionally, I work as a freelance guitarist, work with several local film and theatre composers, and as the guitarist for St. John Fisher Parish.

Our music program at St. Lawrence is truly unique. We have a team of wonderfully skilled music instructors who are very dedicated to their work. We do our best to give each individual student the knowledge to grow and a platform to shine!
