Ellen Pope - 4th Grade Teacher

Believe, belong, become. It has been a long time since my husband and I first crossed the threshold of SLM. Since that time this motto has rung true; as a parishioner, school parent, and now fourth grade teacher. Although I was born and raised in near New York City (Go! Yankees!), my family was fortunate to spend summers in Maine.  I attended Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts which is located right in the middle. My decision to become a teacher took place later. To this end, I received post baccalaureate certifications from Salem State University, CSU Dominguez Hills, and Brandman University. My teaching experiences include Torrance Unified and Wiseburn Unified School Districts. I took a long break from the classroom while my children were small, then returned seven years ago.

My husband Jeff and I live in Redondo Beach with our four Mariners: Nicholas, Natalie, Katherine, and Olivia. Nick is a college graduate pursuing his dream of a career in sports journalism. Natalie is a junior at the University of Arizona heading to Italy for a semester abroad. The twins, Katie and Liv, are seniors at Bishop Montgomery High School.   I enjoy spending time with my family before the nest is empty. Whether it’s cooking at home, heading to the beach, or just hanging at home with our dog, Hudson; this time together is precious. Looking forward to a wonderful year full of growth, faith, and learning; personally and professionally.
