Debbie Edmonds - 2nd Grade Teacher
Catholic education has been an important part of my growth and spiritual development. I attended Holy Trinity School in San Pedro from kindergarten through the eighth grade. I went to Mary Star of the Sea High School and I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development.
I received a great deal of inspiration from those early years in elementary school. My first and second grade teachers became mentors and inspired me to become a teacher myself. They both became reading specialists and opened a tutoring business and I worked for them from the time I was in seventh grade until right after college when I got my first teaching job at Rolling Hills Country Day School. I taught a first, second, and third grade combination class at RHCDS for 7 years. After the birth of my first child I became a substitute teacher specializing in long term substitution positions.
I have two children Abbey (17 ) and Cole (20) years old. I've been married to my husband Donnie for 23 years and I've been teaching for 27 years. In addition to formal classroom teaching, I have taught Religious Education here at SLM for the past 12 years. I started teaching Sunday school and then I taught first, second, third, fourth and fifth grade. I am also one of the cofounders of The Bridge, the middle school program here at St. Lawrence. I am involved in the cookie ministry and I am currently working on a committee to reinstitute twenty-four hour perpetual adoration here at SLM.
In my spare time I enjoy yoga, reading, and long walks.
