Cara Everhart - English Language Arts/Music

As a twenty-two year-old college graduate in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and a minor in comparative world literature, I embarked on my teaching career at Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance as the long-term substitute teacher for the AP Language and Composition and AP Literature and Composition courses. Since my time at Bishop, I was a substitute teacher at St. Lawrence Martyr, the assistant music director at Bishop Montgomery High School, the music director at St. Catherine Labouré in Torrance, and the junior high English language arts teacher at St. Catherine Labouré. In December of 2018, I graduated from Loyola Marymount University where I received a master’s degree in education, as well as a secondary preliminary teaching credential in English.

I relate my teaching experience to the words of Mother Teresa: “I’m a pencil in the hand of God.” I, myself, being a pencil in God’s hands, hope to create a sense of inspiration in the hearts and minds of my students. My purpose as an educator lies in the fact that, through my guidance, my students will realize how they can create beauty for God in whatever path they choose for their lives. Dear students, you are important; you are beautiful; you are priceless. Be joyful knowing that you are loved and cherished by God. Dream; create; achieve; and you will inspire those around you.
